I help leaders and teams strengthen communication by building the mental fitness required to stay grounded, present, and intentional – even when conversations get hard.
Replaying conversations long after they’re over.
Knowing what you want to say, but not saying it well.
Feeling emotionally hijacked in key moments.
Carrying the weight of leadership internally
For most of my life, I didn’t realize how much my internal state was shaping my communication.
Stress, old patterns, and unexamined reactions were quietly influencing what I said -and what I held back. I moved through important conversations unaware of how much my nervous system was influencing my presence in the moment.
I didn’t fully understand this until one conversation -with my son- changed everything.
That moment became the turning point.
Not because I learned better words, but because I noticed what was happening inside me as it was happening.
That awareness reshaped how I lead, listen, and respond under pressure.
It also became the foundation of the work I now do with leaders and teams.
I love to walk! I’ve walked the Camino de Santiago twice - over five hundred miles each time- and will be going again soon. Long walks have a way of clarifying what really matters.
I’m endlessly fascinated by the intersection of faith, neuroscience, mindset and leadership. I believe conversations shape culture more than policies ever will.
I’m happiest near water - boating, paddle boarding, or simply sitting quietly and thinking.
I love cooking for and with my four grown kids and five grandkids! It’s one of my favorite ways to gather everyone together.
The same principles I teach in leadership—presence, awareness, steadiness—have shaped my life in deeper ways than I expected.
They’ve also led me into a more personal space… one that weaves together faith, reflection, and how we actually live this out day to day. Not as something separate, but as something that quietly supports everything else.
A Closer Walk is a space for that.
A place to slow down, quiet the noise, and practice walking more closely with God and living with greater peace, joy, steadiness, and trust in everyday life.—together. Not more to do. Just a different way of being.
